Vaskor's Favorite Books

The Lord of the Rings

The best book ever written which has changed my life forever.

The Amulet of Samarkand

One of the best fantasy series, same genre as Harry Potter and Eragon but better and not as predictable. Book 1.

The Golem's Eye

One of the best fantasy series, same genre as Harry Potter and Eragon but better and not as predictable. Book 2.

Ptolemy's Gate

One of the best fantasy series, same genre as Harry Potter and Eragon but better and not as predictable. Book 3.

Mort

Maybe the best book by Terry Pratchett. Start your journey to Discworld from here.

The Left Hand of Darkness

Mesmerizing book about contact. And honor. And friendship. And sacrifice. Technically it is sci-fi, but the book goes way beyound boundaries of the genre. This is one of those books that stays with you for a lifetime.

Dandelion Wine

How can I describe it? This book is filled with such pure lightness, it's almost painful. This is one of those rare books that you can actually feel. You don't get information from this book, you get happiness.

To Kill a Mockingbird

I don't think this book needs a special introduction. I simply can't imagine people living without ever reading this book.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull

If any book can teach you how to fly, this is the one.

The Old Man and The Sea

Best book by Ernest Hemingway. A tale about an old man and the sea, giving and taking.

Kon-Tiki: Across the Pacific in a Raft

An ultimate adventure true story, which inspired hundreds of sea voyages on primitive crafts and millions of people all around the world. Way better than any kind of fictional adventure books you might have read before.

The Kalevala

I don't know why and how, but this is the only mythology epic which is easy to read. In fact, it flows by itself. And it is absolutely enchanting.

Kim

People judge Rudyard Kipling by his books for children, but, in fact, his best book is Kim. Yes, it is about India too. Very sincere and true India, at least from Kipling's stand point, - you'll love it.

The Great Book of Amber

Extremely engaging fantasy book by Roger Zelazny. Epic conflict between various manifestations on Hindu gods and goddesses. This is a very big book, but once you start reading it is virtually impossible to stop, so beware!

Farmer Giles of Ham

Little known but hilarious book by J.R.R Tolkien. Just like The Hobbit good for any age. Simply must read!

18 Best Stories by Edgar Allan Poe

The man was genius and maybe even beyound that. Founder of science fiction and detective fiction genres among other things. Some of his tales are just plain creepy (in fact, you might get some nightmares over them), some are sad, some mysterious, but not a single boring one. One can hardly believe they are from mid 19th century...
