A few weeks ago Icey Dan1 (aka Silentc0re) has announced Runescape Guide Competition on YouTube. Apparently Jagex offered to sponsor it with 1 year free Runescape membership for the winner. And that's apart from exposure for your YouTube channel Dan is promising for the best entries. Due date is June 1, so there is still plenty of time. If you are in a mood of making a few video guides, check it out.

On another topic, if you remember Avicile Mohaili's challenge to write RL/RS facts posts, here is the one from Tankler. I wish more bloggers would answer to the challenge - those posts are very interesting to read.

Jagex is going social

I bet many of you already know that, but I'd like to post it here anyway for the benefit of those who haven't heard about Jagex using Twitter and Facebook yet. While Jagex has had a YouTube account for quite a while, Twitter and Facebook accounts are rather new and, in my opinion, much more successful in terms of providing an additional communication channel with players. Especially the Twitter one, I found it very useful for learning about in game Jagex's hosted events. If you are not following RSOF too closely, but want to be aware about such events, definitely take a look.

Runescape Media Revolution

New article at Tip.it talking about different types of Runescape media and regretting about Runescape video getting more and more prevailing and Runescape pictures taking a back seat. What can I say? It is not a Runescape phenomena. It's global: video is becoming THE storytelling device for new generations. We can regret it anyway we want and keep coming back to our beloved books and pictures, keep insisting that children should read and write above all, but there is no turning: new generations will use video as their main media (at least until something new and even more cooler appears). At least, that's what I think :-)

Now, let me tell you about my video making experience. I made my first YouTube Runescape video in October 2007 and since then put up 5 more. Well, I have mixed feelings about these videos. First of all, I like them :-) Every one of them took me many hours to produce and every one of them was the best I could do at the time of making. I also feel like these videos helped other players, which is a great feeling. But one thing I wasn't entirely prepared for was how many stupid and offensive comments about my accent I would get. Staggering 25-30% of comments were not about the videos, but about my voice, my English and my nationality. If that's the real percentage of intolerant English speaking teenagers (presumably, that's the main Runescape population), this culture is in trouble... Anyway, I still like my videos :-) And I'll try to make more, it's just they take too much time to produce...

Crazy High Alching

My new video. I've always wanted to do something crazy like high alch a bunch of whips or dragon chains. Well, I finally settled on dragon plateskirts...

P.S. I actually ended up high alching almost twice as many skirts, as during the filming I was taken by Bob, what's his name the nasty lazy dirty cat, twice!

Teh Noob Show

Yeah, that one. If you haven't seen it yet, look for "runescape the noob show" on YouTube - there are plenty of episodes and most of them are very funny. Some are outright hilarious. Like this chipmunk style Zezima song. Also here is an interview with Tehnoobshow, the one and only real noob of Runescape.
