Jagex's 2009 Financial Report

I am simply swamped IRL. It's all good: work and mapping, but to the degree that I haven't even logged into Runescape during the last 3 days... It should come back to normal later this week, I hope.

Meanwhile, here is a link to Jagex's 2009 financial report (thanks to Ren) - the company is doing good.

Another link I'd like to point you to is Mod MMG's Q&A. You probably saw it already, but still. My personal highlight from there is this one: "we find only about 10% of our players are PvPers". Nice, hard number to put PvP problems in proper perspective.

Runewise on Twitter

Will this Twitter account replace the Runescape Reader's Digest? No.
I will post in the blog as regularly as before. Twitter only allows for short concise messages and quick interactions, and that's exactly the way I plan to use it.

Plus following other fan sites and players is quite rewarding. I've been using it for a few days only, but it is already fascinating to see how other fan sites are being built and updated: Arieder is in the middle of the RuneAddict home page rework and MechScape World just started a new community event (by the way, if you like creating cool pictures, take a look - you might want to participate). With more fan sites joining Twitter it may become THE way to keep a hand on a pulse of the Runescape community.

Everything there is to know about Mechscape at this point. As you might have guessed, from Ren. A lot of interesting facts, but, unfortunately, still no Mechscape release date.

Jagex approves a fan site

I am again a bit late, but I simply can't pass by this news. Jagex has officially approved a fan site on RSOF: see here. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see Mod Emilee's post.

I believe it is the first and only case so far. Congratulations to Mechscape World and Ren!

Jagex is reaching to Runescape fan sites

According to this topic at TruthScape, both Qeltar and Ren (ThuthScape and MechScape World site owners respectively) received unsolicited official emails from Jagex. And I am sure other big fan sites were contacted as well. A few days ago Mark Gerhard (new Jagex's CEO) proclaimed a policy of "openness" and now Jagex is reaching out to the established external Runescape community. It looks like that a long awaited change in relationship between Jagex and Runescape fan sites is finally coming!

P.S. Alas I personally did not receive such email, which I attribute to either relatively small size of Runewise and Runescape Reader's Digest or the possibility of Jagex not being aware of their existence. Either way it saddens me, but it also gives me a good opportunity to ask you, my dear readers, to spread word about Runescape Reader's Digest (and Runewise, if you use it, of course) among your friends and clan members. I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you!

Jagex prevents a school shooting

Interesting topic I just found on MechScape World forum about Jagex reporting school shooting threats made inside the game and on Runescape forum to the US authorities thus preventing several incidents. The topic talks about two such cases, I would guess, there could be more. In any case, it is good that Jagex takes this kind of stuff seriously. Who knows, how real those threats were, but with all probability Jagex saved some kids lives right there.

Affiliation with MechScape World

I am happy to announce that MechScape World and Runescape Reader's Digest are officially affiliated now!

You might be already familiar with MechScape World and Ren (its owner), as I linked several outstanding research reports Ren made about Jagex and Runescape in the Runescape Reader's Digest before. These reports were published on TruthScape forum (at least that was were I found them).

While MechScape World site and forum are obviously focused on upcoming new Jagex's MMO, there is also a great deal of Runescape related information to be found there. And, of course, Ren's research reports. Here is the latest one which among other things (like MechScape and ThirdScape) talks about Runescape future and Jagex's plans for Runescape.
