Where is the best place for a Runescape blog

Take a look at Josh's question about it. It's actually a tough one.

In my opinion it is easier to start a Runescape blog at one of big sites with established blogging community, like Sal's or Tip.it (or even RSBandB). You'll get readers and comments right away. But it is much harder to go beyound this particular community in a long run. Chances are that people from Tip.it won't be reading/commenting on blogs from Sal's (and visa versa). While Runescape blogs hosted on neutral platforms like Blogger or Wordpress have a chance to be potentially exposed to broader Runescape audience. But those are, of course, much harder to make people aware of. There are technical differences too (customization capabilities, moderation options etc.), but it's not that important. There is also a third way: maintain the blog in several places (Aximili E I is doing just that).

What are your thoughts? I know several people switched from Blogger to Sal's. Was that the reason why? What were your experiences? Is there something I am missing about fan site blogging platforms? I never really tried it, so I might very well be mistaken here.

Sleep in Runescape

Interesting article about sleep in Runescape (Fatigue in RSC and such). You may say it has nothing to do with RS2, but why?

“If we have beds and can yawn and have chairs and can sit down, why can’t we lay/sleep in our beds?”

Indeed, why? I think, it'd be cool to be able to sleep in Runescape again. Maybe players could get some small temporary attack/strength/constitution bonus after a good sleep? Or something similar to Oo'glog's pool effect? I suspect that part of the problem might be pure technical. Remember how Jagex were proud about changes in the game engine which allowed characters to sit on the ground? Yeap, I bet, the RS2 engine simply does not support "laying on the ground (or bed)" yet. Speaking about beds, while I am in this "wishful thinking" mode, here is what I would really love to happen: our characters being able to use ALL that furniture, windows and things/tools inside Gielinor houses. Without any kind of EXP gain - just for fun.


In other news, Merch Gwyar talks about various types of Runescape Blogs and how to approach blogging about Runescape. I agree with her, you don't get e-fame through regular blogging (at least not in Runescape), but you might find a lot of new friends that way. And, yes, as Merch said don't be shy to point to your blog in comments. I am trying to find as many Runescape blogs as I can, but I am surely missing a lot. So if you simply post a link to your blog, I'll subscribe to it right away. Thank you.

Zybez's Runescape Blog

I feel somewhat guilty about me always criticizing articles coming from Zybez's blog. The reason is that I actually use the site just as often as I use Tip.it. If you brush aside the RWT past and don't mind over-moderation of the forum, Zybez is a very good Runescape site. Why is it not recognized by Jagex? The story about "competitive ads" is murky. Zybez published its version of the story, but Jagex didn't. And I don't want to speculate about it.

Anyway, Zybez is not on the list of the approved Runescape fan sites and, not surprisingly, resentment seeps into their blog. If you are looking for articles with anti-Jagex sentiment, that is the place to go. And sometime those articles irk me enough, that I feel a need to voice my opinion, hence those negative reviews...

So why I keep reading it? Well, because, it is not all bad, of course. In fact, many of the articles in Zybez's blog are just normal Runescape related articles without any kind of bias and some of them are quite good. Like this one about skills needed for pking from a non-pker point of view.

So, yeah, when I am criticizing Zybez's blog posts, I am not really trying to paint them in black...

Yeap, can't believe it myself :-) But it is true, the first post was made on August 8, 2007 and since then there were 686 more posts. Quite a number.
