Jagex's 2009 Financial Report

I am simply swamped IRL. It's all good: work and mapping, but to the degree that I haven't even logged into Runescape during the last 3 days... It should come back to normal later this week, I hope.

Another link I'd like to point you to is Mod MMG's Q&A. You probably saw it already, but still. My personal highlight from there is this one: "we find only about 10% of our players are PvPers". Nice, hard number to put PvP problems in proper perspective.

Runescape PvP World Changes Review

26king and 76king in Runescape

Well, I am not a fan of this new type of PvP activities. IMHO, it is just easy money obtained through exploitation of game mechanics (like zero-cycle merchanting). Nothing to do with the game flow and role-playing. I think it devalues P-king: real fight is getting replaced with something utterly artificial.

But, the rewards are great as you can see from multiple posts of our fellow bloggers from Blessings clan (here are posts from Tim and Zelda) and risks are minimal. So no wonder 26king and 76king got so popular in PvP (and BH?).

Will the rewards be nerfed soon? Who knows, but, I think, it is probable. Here are official Jagex's statements about 26king from Twitter:

• 26k-ing is not against the rules, however we do not consider it a skillful or honorable way to play -RSDev
• No comment on "fixing" the 26k trick, but we are always looking for ways to ensure drop-table calculations are fair. -RSDev

Is Pking back in Runescape?

Take a look at this article that questions necessity of giving to much attention and resources to restoring pking in Runescape. While I know that clans are rejoicing PvP worlds, it looks like that vast majority of the players is simply ignoring them. And you can see it not only in number of players using these worlds, but also in a fact that prices for PvP supplies (such as blood runes) are down to the bottom limits.

So what is it? Too many pkers left a year ago and never returned? Or were there simply not that many pkers to start with?

Rejoicing the PvP update

Tim's description of Blessing's celebration of the PvP update. Not being a pker, I am still glad that so many players do actually enjoy pking in such a manner.

Pking and PvP are coming back to Runescape

Not being a big fun of pking, I was shying away from writing about it for a while. But I guess I ought to dedicate at least one post to it now, as Jagex's plans to bring pking back into the game are indeed quite radical. The update is likely to shatter the whole Runescape world, despite a promise to allow pking only on dedicated PvP servers. Apart from minigames that would allure to both pkers and skillers and special PvP gear, it is inevitable that new life will be poured into "used to be" pking supplies market of super sets, sharks, blood/death runes and such. I don't know if the Runescape pking future will be bright, but it will definitely be very interesting. Can't wait!
