Interview with Jagex's CEO Geoff Iddison

New interview with Geoff Iddison. Two things caught my attention there:

1. Speaking about P2P vs F2P: "About 60 percent of the game content is behind that subscription barrier."
Haven't heard this figure before.

2. Speaking about Mechscape payment model: "But going forward, we are considering in our future MMOs having not just subscription but micropayments too."
I hate micropayments in MMOs...

Nothing personal, just business...

Somewhat saddening article with multiple quotes from Jagex CEO Geoff Iddison. Why saddening?

“We’ve got an infrastructure behind Runescape which is the real silver of the Jagex, the value of the company,” said Iddison. “It’s not the game, the game is going to come and go,” he said.

I know, I am being childish. Runescape is not going to last forever, in fact, it will probably be totally gone in 5-8 years, but it saddens me to hear such uncaring words from Jagex anyway.

New interview with Jagex's CEO Geoff Iddison. Among other things he reveals expansion plans for Runescape (such as going to China, India and Malaysia) and says that Jagex plans to invest into Runescape during the next 5 years, which is both good and bad news. 5 years is more than I expected, but it still marks a sunset date for the game we love.
