My personal impression is that Saradomin Godsword is better and more fun to use. I used to "whip" all monsters for a long time and, even when I bought Bandos Godsword, I kept using Whip for the most part. But then I switched from Bandos to Saradomin and got hooked. Both Whip and Guthans suddenly degraded in my eyes and now I am trying to use my godsword as much as I can. I still have to use Whip with dragons, but that's all right.
So give it a try one day, you might also like it.

What a surprising result, I have tested the whip and all god swords, I now own a couple of whips and a Bandos God sword.
The reason I own a Bandos and not any other is because God swords are carp, no comparison to the whip, the only place a god sword is better than a whip is at dark Beasts, that's the only reason I have it, god sword is slow and inaccurate, if you use a whip and you hit a zero you know you have another hit coming in a second, with god sword you know you probably have another zero coming eventually.
At abyssal demons I have killed 2 demons by the time a god swording warrior of the same stats has killed one, I took my Zammy to abbys and went back to get my whip half way through the task, it was embarrassing.
God sword is for show only that's why I never take mine out, im not a show off.
Thats why high level players use whip, you wont see many if any over 120 with a god sword for general training.
I prefer Using the whip with a rune defender 9 times out of 10 over the god sword.
I also agree its more of a staus thing too.

It's been proven in this RS forum thread from some time back. The thread-maker used solid figures (attack speed straight from the Knowledge Base, str bonuses etc) and then made the necessary calculations to determine which weapon had the greater damage output. He did not simply assume which feature, strength or speed, outweighed the other.
In this featured article, however, the author seems to be basing his consensus on subjective criteria such as "boredom" and prices (money may not play a huge role for some people). He also failed to mention the exact speeds of either weapon.
The special attacks of the GS and the Whip are also immaterial in this argument, since players are better off using DDS specs which deal the most damage and take up only 25% of the Special Bar.
Well, I like Saradomin godsword special a lot and it plays a big role in why I prefer using it rather than whip now.
As for showing off, I am definitely not trying to impress others. But there might be an irrational element in me using the godsword too, simply because I like it.
I personaly like fast weps so the whipis good for me. im lvl 112 so i still dont hit that high. and the day i got my bandos gs i sold it. the whip is just faster and has more stable hits i got my gs i hit a 29 then a 39 then a 3. it was good for 2 hits it just sucks.and it just annoying that it takes 4 minutes to kill a mole. with a whip it takes like a minute
Welll.... Yeah, unless you consider the sarah sword as a GS. The only reason, even with the sarah sword to use it instead of a whip is the fact that you can train STR otherwise the GSes are useless. Heck, I destroyed my friend in PvP where we had same armour except i had whip/rune 'fender and he had bandos GS. I beat him by half my hp (30-40). (we were both same lvl, no prayer).
