Kon-Tiki by Thor Heyerdahl... What is it? An adventure book? A sea voyage journal? Well, yes. But, above all, it is one of those rare books in the world history that inspire people to action (but not to war!). It inspired hundreds of sea voyages on primitive crafts all over the world, it basically created a new field in the archeology (called experimental archeology) and made people re-think conventional ideas for the origins of our civilization. And it inspired millions and millions of people to reach out to other places and cultures and see the world with open eyes in all its beauty and wonderment.
