How to by-pass the unbalanced trades limitation

Don't take me wrong, I am not looking for a loophole for the gold selling sites. However, 3-30K limitation is quite severe and there are legitimate ways to sidestep it when trading with your friends. Take a look at Merch Gwyar's note about it.
To add to this approach I also suggest to use Kegs of Chef's Delight beer. Each keg costs 60K in the General Exchange. A few days of brewing and you and your friends can exchange quite expensive items.

It doesn't make any sense to me, it appears to me that its a case of just swapping super compost for other items, is it not the same to chop trees and use logs as an exchange, im not going to part with my super compost as a currency I would sooner use GP.

The explanation on there makes no more sense.

Well, super compost is indeed a valuable commodity for farmers, but not for many other players.
But what about kegs with beer? One keg costs 60K. I can make 4 kegs in one day, 20 kegs in 5 days. No one buys these kegs on GE, as they are way overpriced. But if I need to borrow a whip from a friend I can do it now with my 20 kegs. Note that no money exchanged, just my useless 20 kegs for a whip.

Perhaps this is aimed at the people with less cash than myself.

The one drawback is the price on GE for the kegs will drop daily until it reaches a price that people will pay for it or it reaches its hi alch price, when this happens you will need to get more kegs back when you return the whip.

If I needed to borrow a whip I could exchange it for the cash or any other items, rune sets, dragon weapons etc, im not going to go brewing just to have some overpriced stuff cluttering my bank.

GE is pretty good for lending things out, if I want rune boots I can buy for minimum price quickly and sell them back for maximum when I have finished, its the same with many things.

Funny thing about Chef's Delight kegs is that their price stays the same since the GE was introduced. It is one of those abandoned items, no one has ever bought through GE.

And I agree about price ranges. A lot of players (me including) would find it difficult to make 1M gp, so it is not always appropriate or easy to pay in cash for items you want to borrow.

Sorry, I think I confused things by focussing on supercompost. That was basically just an example of something which I'd previously have given away without thought of the cost, however now I learn that it's worth 18k for 28 buckets full.

Armed with this knowledge, say you wanted to give me a present of a granite maul (roughly 48k at the moment). You couldn't because my limit is 30k trade and that item can't be divided into smaller amounts to be given at 15k intervals.

However, if I was to give you 28 supercompost (noted) then that, added to the 30k limit, would give us 48k to play with. Yay! Thank you for my granite maul! :D

I was thinking more of lower to middle levels, as we don't tend to have the ready money just lying around. Supercompost might not be the best of items to use as ballast (Vaskor's keg of Chef's Delight is much better!), but it is something which is easily and freely acquired and which allows some leverage.

If, for example, I want to give my level 45 nephew a complete set of rune armour, how would I do that? His limit is 3k, so there's another 197k to account for.

If he's paying for it, then he might as well go to the GE and it's hardly a gift anymore. However, if he could collect 4 kegs of Chef's Delight, I could trade him the rune armour. The ingredients for Chef's Delight are much cheaper (or freely available) than rune armour would be.

The other point is that ballast (items used solely to make up the balance between the trade limit and the cost of the item) is ideally created of those things which are so over-priced so to be otherwise useless. Where we are at the moment is discovering what items these might be.

PS (Sorry I couldn't edit the above comment) Teacuptime actually discussed this ballast idea far more coherently than I did:

Thank you, Merch Gwyar. The link to Teacuptime's blog didn't work, so here it is again

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

The Keg idea is a good one because as you say it is easy, the player can get xp (would that be cooking I have never made any) as well as a valuable tool for trade.

The difficulty is that the GE if no one buys things the price drops until it reaches a predetermined price, with most things it is the alch price.

I can see it being difficult finding things that have missed this treatment by Jagex and I cant see Jagex leaving it like it if they find them.

How much does a keg alch for?

Vaskor said...

They high alch for 0 gp. Very strange item indeed.

You really make it seem really easy along with your presentation however I find this topic to be actually one thing which
I feel I would never understand. It kind of feels too complex and extremely vast for me.
I am having a look ahead on your next post, I'll attempt to get the dangle of it!

all the time i used to read smaller content which as well clear their motive, and that is
also happening with this post which I am reading at this time.
