Latest Runescape Update. Don't Download.

I agree with Marlaine here: don't install this information gathering program. Most probably Jagex is not going to do anything harmful with the data they collect, but you may never be 100% sure. So, don't risk it. Period.

umm . . . I instal software from Jagex in order to play the game. If Jagex wanted to be nefarious, they didn't have to tell us anything - they could install extra stuff along with the game.

I am not going to wear any tinfoil hats for this one. I want Jagex to understand their customers so that they can provide us with a better game.

I have every faith that Jagex will not cause any harm to your computers or load any spyware, well no more than they do already.

I will not be downloading the software, no matter who it is who asks for it, it is a good policy to only download software that you want or need, I am very reluctant to let Microsoft check my system even though it is a requirement to fix all the bugs they introduce.

It isn't really a download and install at all. If you click on the link, it opens a RS like window and it goes through the process of running a java program. Takes about 5 seconds and then you can close the window, leaving nothing behind.

You trust them with your character, when you play the game, on funorb... Do you really think there is any reason to be suspicious?

Technically you are probably right, but, like Steve, I prefer to follow a simple rule of not installing anything I don't need/want from third parties on my machine. It does help in a long run.
