Town Criers in Runescape

Who are town criers and where did they come from? Thanks to Steve, I know now. It's interesting though that while the game is quite understandable for people all over the world, some very English things appear there from time to time, like town criers or window tax (from Fremennik Isles).

"A Town Crier was used to pass messages to the town folk in England many years ago, this was so people who couldn't read could get important local information..."

Just so you know I believe the town CrYer is spelled with a "Y" normally, and they spelled it with an "I" on purpose for a bit of fun...If you notice after he rings the bell and makes his statement he does the cry emote...Just jagex having a bit of fun IMO

I love Jagex's humore when it comes to things sometimes.

I really enjoy the Monty & The Python references. Also, I forget what object it was (probably the obvious one) but I actually started laughing when I saw the reference to the Eric and the Dread Gazebo fable.
