Good article from Bluebrisingr in R!Informer about real life skills we may learn in Runescape. In my opinion, Runescape is not the best option to learn anything - after all it is just a game. But it may help with certain social aspects. It provides a relatively "safe" environment for communication with other people and allows children to hone their leadership skills. I remember reading somewhere that about 20% of children who play in MMORPGs tried to be a clan leader in one of the games at least once and that's quite a number.

Actually, I use runescape to teach my students that knowing sound chemistry can apply to ANY field - even the world of on-line games. Copper and tin really do make bronze; and you do need some carbon (coal) in your iron to make steel. So there is more than just socialization skillls or leadership skills to learn there.
