Leetspeak, plz?

Interesting post from Zelda about different perception of the same word ("please") when it is spelled in English and Leetspeak. I was thinking about it and I admit of having similar perception as Zelda, maybe not as severe, but similar nonetheless. I am more inclined to help someone who speaks normal English rather then a person who uses Leetspeak addressing me. The problem is that I am not sure it is a good thing, I think, I should try to be more tolerant in this regard.

I don't mind abbreviated speech, in fact it makes sense to type quickly, its been used in business for decades maybe centuries known as shorthand, as long as it gets the message across what's the harm in it.

I do despise the word Pl0x, do emote Pl0x will guarantee me never doing the emote.

Words like c u later, r u OK, how r u are perfectly clear what they are asking why do people have a problem with that?

I do have a problem with people who dislike bad grammar or spelling, a degree in English is not a requirement to play Runescape and many players do not speak English as a first language.

I've wondered about Pl0x as well. Where the heck does that come from?

It sounds like something bad.

A Pl0x on both your homes!

Well, the most probable explanation is that "pl0x" was artificially created from "plox" which in turn was produced via a typo by people trying to type "plz" very fast (look how "o" is close to "l" and "x" is right by "z" on a keyboard). And, of course, "plz" was made from "please". Wicked Leetspeak evolution is going at full speed.
