Thanks to Aximili E I and Merch Gwyar, two renown Runescape historians, I was pointed to this: origins of Disk of Returning (the oldest rare item) and The Black Hole. Quite fascinating.
Interesting articles, posts, guides and discussions which appear every day on Runescape related sites, forums and blogs.

Yea I found that article when I was doing my research on black hole.
It was the first source I found that told me approximately when it was taken out...
I sited Runescape Wiki actually at the bottom of my post but not that particular article... Thanks for sharing this Vaskor!=)
My first account ended up in there for Automining back in the day :P
What I wrote about the Black Hole back in 2008...
In RuneScape Classic there was "the black hole" AKA "the void" where macroers and rule-breakers were sent. It was just an empty screen where you couldn't move, but some people wanted to experience it so hassled Andrew to send them there or committed offences to try and get there. Andrew then made the "Black Hole Experience" to get around that problem, where you could go to the Dwarven Mine and speak to the Dwarf and get sent to a simulated version of the real thing. You were given a "Disk of Returning" to teleport them back. People used techniques (such as dropping the disk and logging onto another character and picking it up or teleporting out instead of using the disk) to get out without using the disk (which is expended after one use). People then tried scamming people and selling them it as a rare item. The irony of this is that the black whole experience was later removed, meaning any remaining disks of returning were suddenly extremely valuable.
