Runescape XP Trackers

Merch Gwyar reviewed pretty much all existing Runescape XP Trackers. Take a look.

I am very happy to see Runewise getting such high marks. Especially, taking in account that Runewise wasn't planned or created as a Runescape XP Tracker. The main Runewise's service was (and still is) Level Based Tips, but apparently XP tracking services which were built one by one in an ad-hoc fashion, stack pretty good against the competition.

Here is some history behind it:

  • Nov 2006 - sometime that month right before Runewise went public the Experience Tracking service was implemented. In a sense it was #2 service at Runewise. I also suspect that it was the first of a kind. I don't believe there were any Runescape XP Traking sites at that time (at least I wasn't aware about them).
  • Jan 27 - Feb 3, 2007 - Level based Goals service was added. Again something which wasn't done before. There were goal sigs, though.
  • Sep 24 - Oct 7, 2007 - Analyze Skills service was added. This service was initially collecting the data daily, but after a downtime early this year, it was changed so data snapshot was taken every time a player logs into Runewise. That is, if you want daily historical statistics, you need to visit the site daily (any of the pages after login, not necessarily the Analyze Skills one). This service gave me a lot of grief, as the initial implementation wasn't scalable. As number of Runewise's users grew, highscore lookups became more and more problematic, hence the change in 2010.
  • Jan 28, 2008 - Exp based Goals service added. This service is rarely used. Mostly by players who keep training their skills after lvl 99.
  • Sep 27, 2010 - Exp Deviations service added. Specifically for players who prefer to keep all their skills close to each other. This service is still being tuned up. I posted a few questions here. If you would like to offer an opinion, please, do. Thank you.
And that's all. At least for now.

Ah, yes, one more comment. Just like pretty much all other Runewise's services, most of these XP tracking capabilities were actually suggested by Runewise's users - I only implemented them.
