What is bigger: P2P or F2P?

For some unknown reason I was always under impression that there are more F2P players than there are P2P ones. Wasn't there some Jagex's statistics about it a few years ago? I can't remember...

Anyway, it is definitely not true any more. I've been updating Runewise's world records service and realized that there are at least twice as much P2P players then F2P player in the game at all times! Check it out. Who would guess?..

I think the statistics they used went by total accounts. Being that there are a fair amount of players with multiple accounts...

Within a given month more F2P accounts probably login but on average each P2P account would be online for longer. Obviously the "number of accounts" is a bad metric for "number of players" as people have multiple accounts.

I have seen a sudden drop of free players nowadays. The free worlds seemed to drop from 1,200-1,500 to 800-900.

Well, could it be that F2P players spent twice less time in the game comparing to P2P ones? That's probably a factor too, but it does look like there are still more P2P players nowadays.
