Dungeoneering Abbreviations, Guides and Questions

Well, after trying Dungeoneering in "pro-style" two days ago, I realized that I do need to learn a lot in order to be useful out there. So I found a few good guides - and my suspicion was confirmed. The way I normally solo dungeons has almost nothing in common with the "pro-style". It's like two completely different sets of skills.

I also found what the most common Dungeoneering abbreviations are (thanks to this great guide):

gd - guardian door
gs - gatestone
gt/ggs - group gatestone
gk - got key, usually followed by the name of the key (for example gk b pent means the person just picked up blue pentagon)
de - dead end
denk - dead end with no key
ht - home teleport
ml - mercenary leader
mono - monolith

I guess, I need to memorize them now :)

I also have a few questions for Dungeoneering "pros":

  1. Why Gorgonite 2-hander is considered to be better than Promethium spear?
  2. Is Shadow Silk Hood is so much better than other armor? Should I ditch my Promethium chainbody and get the hood even if I will probably continue to mostly solo the dungeons?
  3. What does "gatestone the door" mean? Only the leader can have group gatestone, right? If I put my individual gatestone at the door, no one could use it anyway, so what's the point in doing it?
  4. Should I stop and make myself some armor at some point or is it expected that everybody should simply try to unlock all the rooms as soon as possible and don't spend time making armor?
  5. Does it ever make sense to go into a boss's room alone or it should always be done when at least 3 players are there?
  6. How many prayer points can be restored at altars in one dungeon? I ran out of prayer (for the first time ever) during that dungeon...
  7. The guide lists astral runes as necessary. Why?
Thank you!

1. Berserker class ring doesn't work with spears.
2. SSH is good when the entire team has it because it allows them to do things like complete a puzzle room without clearing the monsters out and stuff among other things, but if you're soloing it's less important.
4. Not important.
6. Enough to fully restore your prayer twice.
7. Probably a relic from when you needed them for gatestones. The only other use is Vengeance.

1. People put strength bonus of one of the maxed kinship rings over a weapon that provides all melee attack styles and can be poisoned.

4. It's for getting everyone to a certain door at the same time. I've heard it's mostly used for keyers and/or boss doors.

About the shadow silk hood, i had recently just gotten my shadow silk hood and i am not so sure about it. I usually lasted longer with my katagon plate body. However, with the higher level mages, warriors, and rangers that are higher levels and if you are in the hoods effect, they will not be aggresive. The flaw with the Hood is that humanoids will attack you, and they hurt me more then the humans do. Also the hood shuts itself off ever so often. i hope that helped your decision.

Berserker class ring.

I would say yes. You can oftentimes find some level of armor in the starting room. Or, when you solo, make some if it's a problem. Once you get used to it though you realize that you don't really need the armor.

3. What does "gatestone the door" mean? Only the leader can have group gatestone, right? If I put my individual gatestone at the door, no one could use it anyway, so what's the point in doing it?
Let's say there's a red triangle door away from everything else. An individual would drop their gs there. Then, when the key is found, they could run it to that door. If it's an obvious dead end then just open the door. Or, you grab the key and the ggs and tele back. Now the ggs is there and everyone else can join you. So in a 5 person team you can have 5 doors gatestoned, plus the ggs which speeds things up a lot.

4. Should I stop and make myself some armor at some point or is it expected that everybody should simply try to unlock all the rooms as soon as possible and don't spend time making armor?
No armor.

5. Does it ever make sense to go into a boss's room alone or it should always be done when at least 3 players are there?
Yes, there are times where it may work. Listen to the leader. (For example, the keyer may go clear up other rooms and have everyone else rush in if it's one that would make sense to do that).

6. How many prayer points can be restored at altars in one dungeon? I ran out of prayer (for the first time ever) during that dungeon...
Varies.

7. The guide lists astral runes as necessary. Why?
Vengenance
