What's wrong with Real World Trading?

Excellent research from Knifestorm on the topic. Apparently, there are not only ethical, but also legal issues behind the full scale war between Jagex and RWT.

There is also another aspect to the legal matter of things.

Jagex introduced a cap in the duel arena, I used a theory similar to this post in a discussion I had on another RS forum, people like to gamble (Stake) at the duel arena, people can win a lot of cash staking, If people lose their cash staking they either need to train skills to get cash or buy it from RWT, the argument that people train their player for staking means they get their cash from their main or RWT both against the rules.
If they buy from RWT then they are effectively buying gambling credit similar to online casino's.
Is this not effected by the UK gambling laws? food for thought I think.

Good point. Though, it seems that gambling removal from the game was mainly in order to remove RWT channel as well as to close a way to accumulate wealth without skilling.
And, at the same time (as a nice bonus), the game was made safer and more appropriate for kids and, yes, some potential legal concerns addressed.

Hi Eddie, thank you for commenting and giving a link to your blog. I added it to the list of blogs I am monitoring. When you have an interesting (to a wide audience) Runescape related material posted I'll be sure to feature it in my blog.
Good luck!
