Thanks to Icey Dan1, here is a link to an article written by "retired" Goldmerch Runescape merchanting clan leader. As you might expect, he confirms that he personally and his peers got their fortunes by scamming their own fellow clan members.
Yes, he also talks about beating merchanting clans from inside by selling earlier, but it is just the same type of scamming, isn't it? So when you think about joining a mecrhacning clan, think about this too: do you really want those RSGPs that badly that you are ready to resort to despicable methods and scam other players?
P.S. in case you were wondering, that's why I don't point to existing and legit Runescape blogs that promote this type of money making in Runescape.

The question I would have to ask is if they promote scamming are they legit?
Official Jagex's position (which I disagree with) is that merch clans are OK, so, yes, they are still legit.
You can supply the merchants. Look on the GE web pages and see if anything is experiencing a price spike that you can profit from. For example today both iron ore and iron bars are in a merchanting spike. I'll sell the iron ore I have on hand while the prices are high.
It still amazes me how many people play this game with the sole (or main anyway) purpose is to make a ton of money.....It's not even real money!
Just play to play, have fun. easier said then done...
