Nomad's Requiem Reviews

Despite all the shortcoming of the Nomad's Requiem quest, it did manage to capture everyone's attention, like no other quest did. At least not since While Guthix Sleeps. Beautifully wrought Blood Runs Deep came and passed without much of the hoopla, but not Nomad. Not him - he's going to stay in players minds for times to come. For one and only one reason - extremely hard boss fight which is required for keeping or a getting a Quest Cape. Was the bar for this cape set too far? Yes, I think so: the Quest Cape is pretty much unreachable for players mid level combat (less than 100) now. Well, we'll have to live with it now, just like we live with elite achievement diaries. We did ask for really high level content, didn't we?

Anyway, here are three interesting reviews of the quest:

  • from Alex (pleading mid level combat case)
  • from Neo Avatar (let's look at the quest without taking in account the boss fight)
  • from The Informer (as usual, humorous yet objective account)

Enjoy!

Vaskor I normally agree with you but on this one.....I'm glad that they made the quest cape harder to get. A year ago I wouldn't have said that (for the record I'm 0-7 vs Nomad) but I think as the population gains levels it's a good thing that things such as Elite Diaries and harder quests come out. It's not "special" if everyone has one kind of thing :P

It's equally not fair if the vast majority of people that had one thing have it taken away from them to the elite.

Ok, this is a damn hard boss fight (let's face it, the quest isn't difficult until the last fight) and most RS are not happy over such struggle to beat Nomad (this goes for maxed players, too).

I'm just sick of reading about how "low level" players can't get their quest cape back. For a very few, it's about getting money to buy supplies, but for the most, it's about having to train up those dreaded combat skills. I'm not a fan of combat training either, but when a quest kept killing me, I went out and got those skills higher rather than complain about how "it's too hard for low levels".

The quest cape is the hardest cape to wear because you have to be ready and able to maintain your skills in order to wear it. If you aren't willing to that, then you don't deserve to wear the cape.

Hardly a grandmaster quest but a grandmaster battle without doubt.

You need to earn your quest cape now, players have had it too easy in the past.

Runescape needed a battle like this in mainstream play, Jad is easy and well documented now, level 70 pures are getting the fire cape, (legends cape was before that) this is the new challenge, whats the lowest level you can get the red/blue cape, you will now have players trying to get the cape as low as possible, and of course the players who give up before trying.

There will be tactics posted and aids for low level and pures shortly, thats why I tried it when first released.

For the ranters, training combat is no different from training another skill to be able to start/complete a quest, get training and get over it or live without it
